'Peppered' gets the thumbs up from college students

Peppered Book Cover

Les Veale has taken time out from song writing to try his hand at short stories and so far has written four.

These include a trilogy of 'mystery & imagination' style stories entitled 3 Tall Tales, which will soon be in print.

Already in print as a promotional edition is Les's novella entitled Peppered; a fun story spanning a day in the life of two teenagers who come face to face with their future shortly after the release of the Beatles album Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band in the summer of 1967.

Although the story is not necessarily aimed at a younger readership, the main characters are teenagers and the story touches on common issues facing teenagers today. Because of this, Les was interested to find out what modern youth would make of the book and with the kind help of teachers at Brixham College, organised a review by a class of teenage students. As always with reviews there were mixed views but the general consensus was positive, with students saying the teenage characters in the story were believable and they could identify with their actions, language and lifestyle. Les says not bad for an author that hasn't been a teenager since the 1960's!
